ATCO SENDS ONE OF OUR OWN TO THE 2010 WINTER OLYMPIC GAMES

By: JW - Feb. 04, 2010

ATCO put on a province wide contest for all kids between the grades of 4-12 to receive tickets to the 2010 Olympic Winter Games. One of our very own swimmers, Elan Arrata, sent in his essay and wound up winning 2 tickets to the Women's Hockey USA vs. China.

Here is Elan's entry that won him the tickets.

"My name is Elan. I am in Cascade Swim Club in Olympic Way. I strive for excellence by listening to my coaches, trying new things when they might be hard, and I try not to fool around. My mom told me that I never complain about having to get into the pool even if it's cold and I might not feel like going. It is especially hard not to complain at swim meets because you don't get any time to practice a lot before you get in and when you do get in they don't give you a lot of warning. I also try really hard to do well at swimathons. Last year I tried really hard to get as many lengths as I could and I actually got in more than I thought I would. I swam 1600 meters. Also, the main thing I try to do excellent at is school. I know that I am not the best student but I also know that I am trying my hardest at school. The thing I want to get better at is math because I really like math but I am not doing as well at it as I would like. I want to get at least a B or an A. I think I do pretty well at all these things but I will try to do even better because doing well at school is important for your whole life."
